Launch of “Sustainability Champions” competition for Egyptian companies- Deadline 15 July 2024

ILO and FEI announce the " Recognizing Sustainable Champions for Formalization Practices in Egypt " competition for Egyptian companies

The International Labour Organization (ILO), within the framework of the Solifem project, co-funded by the European Union, and the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) are excited to launch the “Recognizing Sustainable Champions for Formalization Practices in Egypt” competition. This initiative aims to encourage businesses to integrate sustainability and formality into their core operations and celebrate their achievements.

This initiative builds on the “Guidance on Leveraging Sustainability Pathways to Accelerate Formalization,” that was launched in a workshop on May 27, 2024. The guidance note aims to apply proven sustainability strategies to accelerate the transition of workers and enterprises into the formal economy.

Who Can Apply?

  • All types of businesses in Egypt: small, medium, large enterprises, and startups.
  • Companies must have ongoing sustainable initiatives and corporate social responsibility practices.
  • Compliance with all national and international labor laws and regulations is required.

Target Areas:

  • Supply Chain Management: Enhancing transparency and documenting relationships to ensure compliance with labor standards.
  • Education and Skills Development: Programs to improve access to education and skill enhancement.
  • Employment: Strategies to increase job opportunities and ensure qualification for formal employment.
  • Vocational Training: Training programs aimed at equipping individuals with specific skills for the formal economy.
  • Women and Youth Empowerment: Initiatives to empower women and youth, enhancing their opportunities in formal employment and entrepreneurship.
  • Entrepreneurship: Supporting entrepreneurial activities through training, financing, and mentorship programs.

  • The main objective of the initiative.
  • Core idea and motivation behind the initiative.
  • Timeline and implementation phases.
  • Specific, measurable objectives.
  • Description of activities carried out as part of the initiative.
  • Measurable data such as the number of participants, resources allocated, or financial investments.
  • Tangible results or outputs produced.
  • Achieved impact supported by evidence and data.
  1. Supporting Documents:
  • Reports and case studies showcasing the success and effectiveness of the initiatives.
  • Testimonials from beneficiaries, partners, or relevant entities highlighting the initiative’s impact.
  • Photos and videos visually representing the activities and impact of the initiative.
  • Certificates and accreditations obtained in recognition of the initiative.
